It’s an exciting couple of months ahead for us here at Wanderer Coffee. With a brand new site in Inner Brisbane confirmed and a couple of others under Due Diligence – it’s a great feeling that more ‘Brisvegas’ coffee lovers will be enjoying our coffee!

People love a look behind the scenes and with all of this activity, it’s a great opportunity to show you what goes into getting a coffee shop up and running from scratch. So over the next few weeks leading up to our launch I’ll be writing updates on our progress and going into the process that we use – from initial planning & concept ideation right down to marketing and launch day.

So without further ado let’s get into the first instalment

Planning – looking over 3D elevations of new site.

Planning

First step when a new site is in play, it is time to jump right into your project manager shoes and start formulating a project task list.

This doesn’t have to be an exhaustive absolutely perfect list right from the get go. In fact, how could it be perfect! Things will always pop up. The key is to get started. It is a live working document that’s always being checked and updated – this is the nerve centre for your project.

Start by thinking of the key project milestones. Milestones are the key results/outcomes that you have to achieve. For example – completion of design, construction, marketing plan. There will be a truck load of tasks to achieve the milestones but you need clarity of the key results/outcomes to drive the project.

These are the most important elements of your project and if you forget something without realising, life can get very hard.

If you’d like to download our Project Task List Template click here.

Summary – Steps for preparing your task list

Step 1: Download Project Template
Step 2: Map out milestones
Step 3: Add Tasks beneath each milestones
Step 4: Fill in actions column with any extra sub-task detail
Step 5: Add in any confirmed due dates

Stop in next week for more updates on our progress with the new project.
